Your posture is not just about how you sit or stand. It is a reflection of how you move through the world. It holds the history of how you have adapted, protected yourself, and shaped your presence over time.
If you have ever tried to fix your posture by pulling your shoulders back, lifting your chest, or tucking your chin, you are not alone.
But forced alignment does not create lasting change. In fact, it often deepens the patterns that keep you stuck.
True posture is not about holding. It is about moving with ease, stability, and adaptability. It is about restoring the natural intelligence of your body so that you are not locked into one way of being.
Your Body Learns Patterns
Most of the ways we hold ourselves are not conscious choices. They are patterns our bodies have learned in response to life. Stress, trauma, cultural conditioning, and even the roles we take on in our relationships and work shape how we stand, sit, and move.
Some of us shrink to take up less space, rounding our shoulders and collapsing inward. Some of us overextend, pushing through and holding everything together with tension. Others are caught between opposing forces, never quite settling into a posture that feels natural.
These patterns show up not only in our movement but also in how we feel. A posture stuck in collapse can lead to exhaustion and a sense of powerlessness. A posture locked in rigidity can create tension and burnout.
The good news is that just as these patterns were learned, they can be unlearned.
Five Posture Archetypes
After working with hundreds of people on posture, movement, and breath, I started noticing patterns. While every body is unique, many people fall into one of these posture archetypes.
1. The Collapsed Posture
2. The Overachiever Posture
3. The Bull Posture
4. The Hybrid Posture
5. The Unconditioned Posture

Each of these postures tells a story. The way you hold yourself is not random. It is shaped by your experiences, your nervous system, and even your beliefs about who you need to be in the world.
In Day 3 of the Posture Bootcamp, I walk through these posture archetypes in depth and guide you through exercises to begin shifting your patterns.
