The 3 Questions That Changed How I Show Up
A journaling and affirmation practice to help you pause, listen, and lean into who you’re becoming
**If it feels like you’ve read this before, it’s not déjà vu. I accidentally sent the email on the wrong day before the affirmation video was published.**
Think of today’s message as more than something to read, it’s a guided session. As you move through, you’ll first be invited to pause, grab a pen and paper, and spend a few minutes journaling with the questions. Then, when you reach the affirmation practice toward the end, that’s when you’ll want to put on your headphones, close your eyes, and let the words land in your body.
1/ What if I don't need to be enough?
What if we never meant to be enough, so we soften in humility to allow God in. For years, I did the inner work, hoping that one day, I'd finally feel "enough" and being a human would feel effortless. Where did I get that idea? Well, that's another conversation for another day....
No matter how much I grew or "healed", that feeling of enoughness always slipped through my fingers. Enoughness turned into another dangling carrot. We live in a system that praises perfection and makes our humanness wrong. A system that turns worth into a finish line, one more way to keep us running, learning, consuming, and proving.
But what if we stopped chasing enoughness? What if our I AMness is already whole? What if the way we show up —tired, unsure, imperfect —is precisely what the world needs?
In quitting the pursuit of being "enough" and welcoming my humanness more, I found a new kind of intimacy with God. The more human I allow myself to be, the more open I become as a conduit for divine energy.
In the past, whenever I had to teach or hold space on days when I felt tender, sad, or human, I would try to fix myself through breathwork, movement, and mindset practices. Trying to force my energy into something more polished, more "high vibe." No wonder serving felt exhausting and performative.
But this year, I started doing something radical. I practice showing up as I am. And I ask God to fill in the cracks and deliver through me. And what I've found? On the days when I feel most human, the sessions have the most profound impact. And now, even my analytical mind has enough evidence to trust what my heart already knew.
❁ Take a moment to reflect:
Journal Prompt: So my friend, how would you show up today if you weren't meant to be enough?
Affirmation: Today, I remember I was never meant to chase being enough, only to be fully human.
2/ What do I need to enjoy myself more right now?
How could you enjoy yourself when the state of the world is so heartbreaking? How could you enjoy yourself when children are dying from starvation? How could you enjoy yourself when it feels like everyone is either losing their job or is under a lot of financial pressure? How could you enjoy yourself when it feels like we are going backwards in 2025?
I choose to enjoy myself because I have the privilege of choice, and I owe it to those who don't to honour my privilege. Pretending I don't have a choice won't make me a better person; it keeps me a victim and stuck in a perpetual state of helplessness. And I know that when you are a victim, you are unable to create real change, and our actions are often rooted in shame and guilt.
The majority of people in the Western world have privileges that are a dream for those in other parts of the world. However, many of us are paralysed by fear, stress, and exhaustion, which prevent us from recognising our privileges and serving our communities in ways that are possible.
The only way we can honour our privileges is by regulating ourselves! And we can only swing the pendulum of our nervous system from pain by anchoring ourselves back into the simple pleasures of life, by letting beauty interrupt our day and by relaxing into the safety that is available to us in this very moment.
❁ Take a moment to reflect:
Journaling Prompt: My friend, what comes to mind when you think about infusing your life with things that bring you joy?
Affirmation: Today, I remember joy is not indulgence; it is how I honor the privilege of being alive.
3/ How can you move without knowing the "how"?
This question has become an opening for me, a soft portal into the unknown. It doesn't demand clarity. It invites trust.
Most of us don't get stuck because we lack vision. We get stuck because we demand to know how—every step, every outcome, every variable before we let ourselves begin.
For years, I let "how" keep me frozen.
If I couldn't map the entire journey from A to Z, I assumed it wasn't safe to move. And in that grip of control, I lost touch with the very vision that once lit me up. It's like fixating on a single puzzle piece, trying to force it into place, and forgetting to look at the big picture on the box for guidance. When you lose sight of the assignment, everything starts to feel wrong, even when it's not. And we feel like there is something wrong with our intuition, while our intuition often shows up when we are willing to trust the mystery.
May today you remember
The how comes through movement.
The path reveals itself as you walk.
This is the alchemy of becoming. One breath, one step, one yes at a time.
❁ Take a moment to reflect:
Journaling Prompt: My friend, how would you show up in your life if you fully trusted the mystery?
Affirmation: Today, I remember alchemy happens when I trust the mystery.
