Your rib cage.
The positioning of your rib cage impacts everything, and I mean EVERYTHING.
It’s where your diaphragm and lungs are. And to breathe (20,000+ reps a day), you need them to expand properly.
Because if they don’t, your body and posture become unstable… and that often equals pain.
After my car accident, I struggled with constant pain, particularly in my neck, shoulders, and upper body. I’d wake up each morning scanning my body and wondering how bad it would be today. Learn about my story here.
I tried countless therapies, chiropractic care, physiotherapy, osteopathy, and kinesiology, each offering only temporary relief. And when I’d try any forms of movement, my pain would come back.
I felt stuck and unable to move forward with my life until I began:
Restoring my posture through diaphragmatic breathing
Incorporating proper breathing into my strength work
Tailoring my strength training to my postural needs
This is why I’m a big fan of teaching proper breathing mechanics as the foundation of how I support clients because:
Better breathing leads to better rib cage positioning
Better rib cage positioning leads to better core integration and pelvic stability
Better stability leads to less lower back, neck, hip, and knee pain
I’ve ran a three-day mini posture bootcamp live on Insight Timer, and over eighty people joined each day.
